Youth With A Mission, or short YWAM, is an international, interdenominational, non-profit, volunteer based movement of Christians. As a ministry as well as individuals we are called to know God. This requires a close relationship with the living God. Equally, based on His word in Mark 16:15, we are called to make God known to others, where ever He calls us to be.
Why the name Reformation Centre? Didn't the Reformation split the church?
If the word "reformation" is reduced to one event in history this might correct and does not seem like a great choice as a ministry name. However, if you consider the meaning of the word it will give a whole new perspective about the topic.
This is how the dictionaries describe Reformation:
The process or act of upgrading, advancing, improving, or enhancing something by removing or correcting faults and problems.
To put an end to, or induce or cause to abandon evil ways by introducing a better method or course of action, to become changed for the better.
For us, this means being open for change and correction by God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, as a way of life. Rather then being satisfied with the current situation we find ourselves in or the status quo, we encourage everyone to actively develop relationships with God and each other. In our corporate and personal lives we want to see improvements happen, problems eliminated, and become changed for the better, as well as help others to have the same experience.
It is important to walk in an active, life-changing, and life-challenging relationship with Jesus Christ.
The definition of the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
to improve (someone or something) by removing or correcting faults, problems, etc.
to improve your own behaviour or habits
